Like the desert miss the rain

For the first time we were on time! We arrived at DesertFest venue (Astra), where Beth & Matte welcomed us. We got our passes and stuff and then we had a really awesome backstage breakfast! We loaded-in amps and cabinets, we soundchecked and we were about to rock.. But noone of us expected this epic headbanging awesomeness..

This was a TRUE BLAST! The venue was packed, the hiliomodian space fuzz was heavy and loud and everyone had a great time! This was the best way to end up the tour. We were all so happy and ready to enjoy the festival. We had a great backstage area, where we had the chance to meet some of our stoner rock heroes.

The festival also provided a great chillout – food – merch area, where we hanged out with our friends from Greece (cheers to them!). We also saw the performance of Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man, My Sleeping Karma, Kadavar and Orchid! Good times! Cheers to DesertFest! We will definitely come back for more!

After some moshpit accidents, we went back to the hotel to get a proper sleep. Next morning, we had a doner – club matte breakfast and got back to the van. The guys dropped me at Orestis' place in Berlin and began their HUGE trip back to Greece. I miss them already! I' d really like to thank Dani, Gianni, Giorgo, Labro and Mitso for this experience. ROAD TO BURN!

Le van superbe attend pour toi bébé!

Correct answer is b. ! We woke up on time, but due to some traffic we didn’t catch the ferry we have booked, so we were a little bit late. Driving in UK roads was a real ntrala but we eventually made it to London! Black Heart was a really nice rock pub. A lot of people showed up earlier, having beers on the street in front of the club. We met  a lot of guys from Greece too. We really thank them for the support! During the gig, people were really excited, Danis had 100% regained his powers, so 1000mods were really rockin’…

After the show, we decided to sleep inside the van. We stopped at a parking, where some kind of transaction took place next to us! We obviously overslept so next day was a real mess. We had to go at a camper’s stop in order to charge the van, unload the waste and have some breakfast. But, we were really late for the ferry so we had to buy another ticket (D’oh!) After 2 hours in the sea, we arrived in France and we began our big road trip to Berlin (900km).

We drove through France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. This was a really tough one, cause we had to drive until 08:00 in the morning. We also had some problems with the van, due to bad french oil. It was time for all of us to rest and get ready to rock DesertFest!

Darmstadt uber alles

Darmstadt was uber chillin’ & uber kool! No gig, no worries, just a quick “rehearsal” and a giant omelette. We even had the time for a short morning walk, before we hit the road to Koln ( Tue 23/4).

After 2,5 hours we arrived at Sonic Ballroom, a really small club covered up with tons of stickers! There, we joined forced with Planet of Zeus!  The club had a great upstage area where we ate kind of german briam with broccoli, cheese & bacon! Great!

All the Kolnians seemed to dig the Hiliomodian riffage and they were really friendly with us. Planet of Zeus rocked the place too! After the show we had some beers at the club and then we went upstairs to get some sleep. Next day we had to rock Utrecht too, so we began our trip after a short stop at a really, really, really BIG music store! This place was like heaven. We could stay there forever…

After 2 or 3 hours, we arrived at Utrecht where Themos waited for us! CLUB MATE also waited for us! We soundchecked and ate some vegan food. A lot of Greek guys showed up, supporting  us and Planet of Zeus. The venue there had some really cool lighting and smoke devices, enhancing the visual experience! The only problem was that every band should play around 30 minutes..  We loaded our super smelly van and headed to Themos’ place to have some doners and some rest.

London was our next stop, so we had to wake up at 6.30 in order to catch the ferry (Calais-Dover) and be on time. What do you think that happened??

a.       We were on time
b.      We were late so we did no proper soundcheck
c.       We were so late, that we didn’t play
d.      We cancelled London and stayed at Utrecht forever

Post a comment with your vote and win a 1000mods Tshirt!

We still need to unload the toilet of the van.

Velvet Underground & Mico / Alamana TravelPussy

All the bands that played  at “A NIGHT INTO THE VOID fest 2” (Cluj-Napoca gig) where really trippy and psychedelic. The crowd was very passionate and the gig had a great vibe (more than a feeling). The projections were a space extravaganza, including some liquid visuals and cult space documentaries. The Hiliomodians kicked asses. The were digging holes, for real. They started with a 15-minute Space Jam (expect some video extracts soon!). I was really excited, headbanging and singing and moving to the grooving all of the time.

After the show we crashed at Raul’s place, played with his cats and slept really late. Obviously, no one managed to wake up on time, so as expected we were late for the gig in Slovenia. We had to drive for 920 km and arrived at Space Stable Gromka at 22:30. 13 hours on the road! No soundcheck, just a quick setup and play (Ο Μήτσος όμως δεν μάσησε, χτύπησε μια μπύρα και για άλλη μια φορά έβγαλε γαμώ τους  ήχους). The venue was really nice but few people showed up. The Hiliomodians jammed a lot that night and the Ljubljanians really enjoyed it. For first time on the tour we met a girl from Greece, probably from Tinos the Big Favor Giver. At the end GregChour played the drums for a while having an awesome-poser jam with 750mods.

The crasiest guy alive-Mico entertained us a lot after the show. We had a regular liquid sleep for the first time because the next day was off. We had sometime to clean our stinky van buy some Slovenian tostinos and start our long way to Darmstadt to meet George a friend from Korinthos and Rene from Wight. Another 13 hour trip through the covered –with-snow Austrian mountains.

We need to unload the toilet of the van.
PLEASE HELP US!

Put your hands up in the air!

Before leaving Sofia, we had to fix the light of the van and buy some supplies, so our arrival at Bucharest was a little bit late. Soundcheck was very short (αλλά ο Μήτσος έφτιαξε πάλι γαμώ τους ήχους). The merch area was in a different room so I didn’t see the Hiliomodians playing, but a really drunk fan told me afterwards, that 1000mods sounded exactly Creedence Clearwater Revival back in the 60s! After the gig we went to sleep at a luxurious hotel but only for three hours.

The next day (Saturday 4.20) we had the biggest trip so far, 9 hours driving to get to Cluj-Napoca.
(Σε ένα σημείο της διαδρομής το τοπίο γαμούσε, οδηγούσαμε παράλληλα σε ένα ποτάμι ακούγοντας Earth). The venue there was a really nice rock pub. After the soundcheck the Space Dude called Ionut took us to eat this cabbage-minced meat-smoked pork traditional Clujian dish (dish dish didididish dish dish didididish dish dish didididish). I think it was the best meal we had till now. 1000mods will start in a while, so hold the line cause love is it always on time owow!
